You know… the typical terrible diet many overweight and/or unhealthy people have. One that involves eating an excessive amount of calories (aka a caloric surplus… the sole cause of fat gain), excessive amounts of sugar (in the form of soda, cookies, candy, pastries, etc.), excessive amounts of sodium (coming via fast food, chips, etc.), excessive amounts of alcohol, lacking in fruits and vegetables, and on and on and on.

2. Excellent book to read!! If you are interested on super foods and what they do in your body and how they are grown and harvested then this book is for you. I have found it very, very interesting on a lot of super foods that I consume. It also tells which ones to look for in how they are grown and harvested and in a lot of cases where they are grown. Some super foods have been around for centuries and the peoples who ate them did quite well in living. A very good buy. If you happen to find a copy in a discount book store, pick it up and look in it and read just how good it is and if you know someone who is interested in super foods and don't have a copy of this book then they will thank you for getting them this book.

FRESH BAKERY Collard greens Currently one of the coolest superfoods around, kale is also one of the most perplexing. Isn’t it just one of the “greens” people have been told to eat for about as long as they have had a choice? Certainly, you would struggle to find a less exotic vegetable. Kale has grown in northern Europe, and plenty of other places, for thousands of years. In wartime, it was one of the stolid, practical crops that people were advised to grow in their gardens. Along with cavolo nero and red Russian kale, it is one of many cultivars of the magnificent Brassica oleracea species, which also gives us cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi and brussels sprouts, and is closely related to turnips, bok choy and Chinese cabbage.

The most widely used insect-killing protein comes from a microbe called Bacillus thuringiensis (often abbreviated “Bt”), and the hazards associated with seem largely limited to insects. Since the first Bt crop was planted in 1996, GMOs have been immune to the corn borer and earworm pests-nicknamed the “scourges of corn.”
